Why you should do a boudoir photoshoot

Updated: Nov 13, 2023

In 2015 my husband turned 40, was travelling for work to the point where he only averaged 6-8 nights a month at home. I stumbled onto Boudoir Photography after Sourcing “birthday gift ideas for husband” on Pinterest. The idea of booking a boudoir shoot was so scary and intimidating for me.

I was 38, a stay-at-home mom with battle scars from 3 births, I had trouble seeing myself as a sexy woman. But in the back of my mind I was thinking: “Nobody knows I’m doing this, if it’s that bad, I’ll get him something else for his birthday.”

My husband has always complimented the way I look and makes an effort at passing positive comments. I didn’t see myself as he described and badly wanted to see what he was “seeing” - Boudoir gave me the opportunity back then to not only see myself differently, but also opened up ways for me to express myself in a safe environment and gain back the youthful confidence sometimes lost during the rat race of parenting and career demands - we often go back to these photos as a couple and remember the good times together, re-invigorating the old “flame”.

I started boudoir photography with the hope of providing or reproducing my personal experience for others and hope that you too will be able to look back at your portraits and remember where you were in your life — to remember your triumphs and your trials, to remember the time you did something you didn’t think you could do.
